Q: Why the EXMount?

A: The EX-3 is a great semi-shoulder mount camera, but since it came on the market users have been looking for solutions to better utilise the camera - on the shoulder, tripod, jibs, steadicams etc.

The EXMount is a simple yet effective mounting solution.  It utilises the industry standard VCT-U14/VCT-14 tripod plate mounting system which secures the camera to the plate via the front wedge AND rear stopper, keeping the camera firmly attached and allowing greater balancing options.

The EXMount is a compact mount.  Its overall length is minimised when in the tripod mounting position - which means that in most cases it can be left attached to the camera - permanently!  No need to remove the mount when finished shooting for the day!

There are 3 versions of the EXMount - 'Basic', 'V-Lock' and 'Anton Bauer'.  The 'Basic' version utilises a simple weight system to counterbalance the mount.  The 'V-Lock' and 'Anton Bauer' versions allow the use of existing battery systems to power the camera and accessories.  The batteries also provide balance for the mount.

The EXMount transforms from a tripod mounted camera to shoulder mount in seconds.  A simple release button allows the shoulder pad & battery mount to slide backward, putting the viewfinder at a more comfortable position for shoulder operation.

It looks good too!  Made from solid aluminium and anodised black - with touches of gold!

Q: How do I order an EXMount?

A: At the moment we don't have an online shopping cart.  So, the easiest way to purchase an EXMount is to email us with the following details:

1. Version of the EXMount you would like: Basic, V-Lock or Anton Bauer
2. Other accessories required: BNC Connectors (single, double - or both)
3. Shipping destination

We can then calculate a price and email you a Paypal invoice.

Orders will be processed in the order they are received and shipped as soon as they are ready.  We will email you with an estimated delivery date.

Q: Can the EXMount be used with other cameras?

A: While this version of the EXMount has been designed to be used with the EX-3, it could be used with other cameras.  One of the main concerns is securing the cameras to the mount with just 1 mounting point. We have made allowance on the top plate of the EXMount to screw in locating pins to help stop skewing or twisting of the camera.  Care would need to be taken when using a camera mounted by just the 1 1/4" screw - to minimise the load on the camera mounting point.

We have tried the EX-1/1R and the Canon XF300/305.  The LCD screen on the EX-1/1R feels a bit close, but otherwise is quite useable.  The LCD on the Canon XF300/305 is further forward and feels much more comfortable.  Powering the camera from a V-Lock/Anton Bauer battery would require some voltage regulation however as the Canon's use a different voltage.

We will look at making some adaptations to the mount to accomodate other cameras in due course.

Q: Can I use standard accessories with the EXMount?

A: Yes - in most cases.  The EXMount turns your EX-3 into a 'big' camera.  So accessories such as mattboxes and rear mounting brackets can be used with little or no adjustment.  In some cases it may be necessary to change some screws or add a spacer - but generally its pretty simple and straightforward.  If you have any questions about compatibility with specific accessories, send us an email and we'll investigate - This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
